CLARE TOONEN - PRODUCER'S ASSISTANT
Clare Toonen is Lauren’s mini-me who ensures the smooth running of development, production, post-production, distribution, marketing and publicity across Galactic Baby’s entire slate of projects. She is also an award-winning screenwriter with screenwriting credits including ABC iview Indigenous comedy series, KGB (2019) and the short film You, Me and Karen (2017) which won the Channel 9 Award for Excellence in Scriptwriting. In 2017, Clare completed a Master of Screen Studies at the WA Screen Academy, following a Bachelor of Arts at Curtin University which she completed in 2012. Clare collaborated with the WAAPA Aboriginal Theatre students to devise an original short drama entitled Rift, for which she wrote the screenplay. Rift was awarded a 2018 ATOM Award in the category of Best Tertiary Short Film. In 2018, Clare and her key Rift team were selected to receive Screenwest’s Generate fund, which awards an emerging filmmaking team with $10,000 to develop and produce a short drama. Clare is an avid comedy fan and has several short form and online projects currently in development.
